Open Class and Bring a Friend 2026

Discover the joy of singing together at our NCYC Open Class and Bring a Friend 2026 🎶
This relaxed session lets you experience what it’s like to sing with the Newport County Youth Chorus!
Share the music by inviting a friend 👫. You’ll warm up, learn a piece with the group, and get a feel for our inclusive, creative community where every voice is welcome.
Session 1: Goodnight, Moon
October 15 - December 10 (9 classes; no class on November 26)
Remember the children's classic "Goodnight, Moon" written by Margaret Wise Brown and illustrated by Clement Hurd? In this session, we're singing songs that are connected to the themes from this beloved book.
Participants will perform the session 1 songs at the Newport Sings Winter Concert on Saturday, December 12 at Calvary United Methodist Church.
Session 2
January 21 - February 11 (4 weeks)
Prep Chorus: Community Sing
Come one, come all to NCYC Community Sing! We invite family, friends, neighbors of all ages to join us each week as we sings songs old and new. Leave your inhabitions at the door and find your voice!
Pre-teen/Teen Chorus: Discover Your Voice: Broadway!
Everyone has a voice to share and now it's time to discover yours! Join us for a special "Discover Your Voice" choir session where you'll explore and strengthen your vocal technique in a supportive, fun environment. Singers will also have the opportunity to perform solos for each other, building confidence and connection with others.
Session 3: Lights, Camera, ACTION
March 4 - April 29 (8 weeks; no class on April 22)
Lights, camera, action! These songs will take us through a cinematic journey from the greatest movies of all time.
Session 3 culminates in a performance at Newport Sings Song Fest on Saturday, May 1 at Portsmouth Middle School. A special rehearsal will take place on Friday, April 30. More details will be sent to families.
