ABOUT ​AQUIDNECK SINGERS

History

The Aquidneck Singers is a 55-member multigenerational treble chorus that was founded by Elizabeth Woodhouse in September 2019.

​​

Aquidneck Singers rehearses from mid-September to mid-December and late January to early May and performs in two concerts: the Newport Sings Winter Concert in mid-December and Song Fest in early May. â€‹ â€‹

Program 

There is no audition to participate and no previous singing experience is required! 

 

The Aquidneck Singers, led by Elizabeth Woodhouse and pianist Jan Navarro, learn and perform a variety of music including music from many cultures and in other languages, in diverse styles and from different time periods. Rehearsals are fun and engaging. Singers have the opportunity to explore and develop their unique voice as well as learn skills to become more confident musicians. No matter what your previous musical experience and background, the Aquidneck Singers will allow you to grow and have fun doing it!

Rehearsals take place on Tuesdays, 5:30 - 7:00 pm at Common Fence Point Community Hall (933 Anthony Road, Portsmouth).

2025 - 2026 important dates (as of June 2025)

Fall

Tuesday, September 16, 2025: First rehearsal fall semester

Saturday, December 13, 2025: Newport Sings Winter concert (4:00 pm concert, location TBD)

Spring

Tuesday, January 20, 2026: First rehearsal spring semester

Friday, May 1, 2026: Song Fest dress rehearsal (evening)

Saturday, May 2, 2026: Song Fest concert (4:00 pm concert, location TBD)

There is a sliding scale tuition ranging from $20 - $75 per semester.
