DESIGN AND TEACH AFTER-SCHOOL CLASSES WITH THE NEWPORT COUNTY YOUTH CHORUS (Part-time)


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and implement exciting and engaging music programs for NCYC singers.

  • Conduct all weekly classes and related performances.

  • Select age- and ability-appropriate repertoire for ensembles that meet both educational and programming goals in collaboration with artistic staff.

  • Participate in artistic planning sessions with Newport Sings staff.

  • Participate in community events hosted by Newport Sings (1-2 per year).


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Candidates should be enthusiastic and joyful, reliable and professional, work collaboratively with members of the Newport Sings team and students, be a healthy vocal model and a positive role model for the singers.

  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in vocal performance or music education.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching treble singers ages 7 - 10 and/or 11 - 14.

  • Knowledge of and experience teaching basic solfege (moveable do) and music literacy training methods.

  • Ability to provide appropriate and healthy vocal modeling.

  • Applicants may be asked to lead a sample class.


The rate is $50 per hour. The performance rate is $150 per concert/performance.
