Newport Sings Board of Directors Roles and Responsibilities

The board plays a critical role in ensuring the success and sustainability of the nonprofit organization. 

Governance: The board is responsible for setting the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic direction, and ensuring that it is fulfilling its legal and ethical obligations. The board is also responsible for overseeing the organization’s operations and ensuring that it is achieving its goals.

Fiduciary Responsibility: The board is responsible for ensuring the organization’s financial sustainability and integrity. This includes developing and approving the budget, overseeing financial reporting, ensuring compliance with financial and legal requirements, and protecting the organization’s assets.

Fundraising: The board is responsible for ensuring that the organization has the resources it needs to fulfill its mission. This includes developing and implementing fundraising strategies including grant-writing, cultivating donor relationships, and overseeing the management of the organization’s funds.

Oversight: The board is responsible for overseeing the organization’s management and ensuring that it is operating effectively and efficiently. This includes hiring and evaluating the Artistic Director, monitoring organizational performance, and ensuring that the organization is adhering to its policies and procedures.

Advocacy: The board is responsible for advocating for the organization and its mission, and building relationships with key stakeholders. This includes representing the organization to the public, government officials, and other organizations, and promoting the organization’s mission and values.
