Themed sessions make choral lessons fun
The fall term of Newport County Youth Chorus has been full of successes. Families have come together to support their children’s musical growth and curiosity. Singers used their voices to uplift residents of St. Clare’s in Newport this holiday season, and we’ve been working our way toward our Winter Concert with Salve Regina’s MixTapes Acapella group. In the spirit of growth, following the February 2nd concert, which marks the end of the winter semester, NCYC is going to change our program format for its Rhode Island spring music lessons.
The first big change is that, instead of one long spring term, we will now offer two six-week programs to 2nd through 4th graders. Each session will have its own musical theme, and students are encouraged to sign up for one, or both of the sessions.
Programming for 5th and 6th graders will continue as a weekly program and we hope you will join us! Continue reading to learn about all of these sessions and how to sign up. The programs are free and all are welcome to participate.
Spring session for 5th through 6th grade
February 6th marks the beginning of NCYC's Spring Term, which is open for all 5th and 6th graders. These once-a-week sessions will help you build confidence not just musically, but in your own abilities as well.
The spring term runs from February 6th through May 29th. We will meet from on Wednesdays from 3:15 - 4:15 pm at St. Mary’s Church, located at 324 E Main Rd. in Portsmouth.
