The Newport County Youth Chorus was founded by Elizabeth Woodhouse, a music educator/ conductor with over 15 years of experience working with young singers in community arts organizations across the country.
The program began in September 2017.
The Newport County Youth Chorus is a community choral music education program for young singers in grades 2 through 8. There is no audition and no previous musical experience is necessary to participate—just a love of singing! The Newport County Youth Chorus programs empower kids to grow as musicians in a fun and safe environment.
Weekly rehearsals include vocal development that is appropriate to the singers’ age and ability, and musicianship study (music reading and understanding). This occurs in the context of a diverse music selection (genre, languages, cultures, time periods, religions), and in an environment that values both teamwork as well as each individual’s unique contribution to our ensemble’s success.
Classes are offered weekly in Newport and Middletown; choose which day and location works best for you.
